The Decentralized Administration of Crete launches its Consultation for the Creation of its Open Data Action Plan

On the 4th of December in Heraklion, Crete, the Decentralized Administration of Crete launched its first consultation for the creation of its Open data strategy with a workshop.  Participants were mainly public authority representatives including directors from the forest, water and spatial planning departments who jointly explored what information could be made available through the DAC new open data portal as well as discussed the aims and objectives the strategy should aspire to meet. The General Secretary of Crete opened the meeting sending the message of how important open data is for increasing regions competitiveness and investment opportunities. Legal, technical and administrational barriers in opening PSI were also discussed together with measures which should be included in the Regional OD Action Plan in order to overcome them. Participants endorsed the collaborative approach adopted and more consultation was scheduled for once the first draft of the strategy will be ready."
